Twilight Street
My source of inspiration for this album was the twilight, depicting the transition between day and night, light and darkness, reality and dreams, life and death.
I developed a strong passion for films and film music at young age. I was equally fascinated by directors such as Hitchcock and Lynch, as well as composers like Bernhard Herrmann who had a unique style of conveying, or portraying, this transition in their films and music.
In my earlier projects as a composer and arranger, I often focused on large sounds to be produced/performed by large ensembles.
For my first solo release, I made a conscious choice to concentrate on the two instruments I play (the trombone and the piano), keeping that orchestral sound in mind all along.
My compositions were inspired by the sounds and the endless possibilities found on the 'inside' of the piano (string piano). Using solely acoustic means to create ambiences (such as the overtones produced by prepared strings, prepared piano, etc), I began to translate the scenes of my life (much like scenes in a movie) into music.
A central theme throughout the album is the concept of moving forward, embodied by the image of a long road as a metaphor for the impressions, experiences and memories that drift by as we move through life.

My album "Twilight Street" was presented live @ Porgy and Bess, Vienna on the 10th of November.
For this very special evening I had wonderful musicians by my side:
Albin Janoska (Sampling) and Alois Eberl, Phil Yaeger, Mark Gaal and Gerald Pöttinger on trombone.
